Urban Night Series

Lighting Up Halifax

Urban Night Series will light up Halifax this winter...

Runners are invited to swap the sofa for a headtorch this winter as the Urban Night Series brings four evening challenges to Halifax. The events will take place on 15 October, 3 December, 14 January and 25 February, offering fast, fun and social one-hour runs that are as much about navigation as speed.

Participants can choose to run solo or pair up with a friend, with each event giving competitors 60 minutes to visit as many checkpoints as possible. A map is provided on the night, and each checkpoint scores points, only once per visit.

Weekly prizes are on offer for the top solo runner and top team, while the overall series scoreboard keeps track across all four events. An added challenge comes with the King and Queen of the Hill competition. At each race, a Strava segment linking two or more checkpoints will go live. The fastest male and female over that segment will be crowned, with times verified on Strava after the event.

Organisers say: "The series is designed to be fun, fast-paced and accessible, testing not only runners’ fitness but also their wits and sense of direction. All that is required is a headtorch or flashlight and a sense of adventure. Our event promises a mix of challenge and camaraderie, with plenty of stories to swap afterwards."
