Ultra North gets ready to take off on 3 October
17 & 34 mile options at first running of Ultra North on Saturday 3 October
Amid the gloom of the rising number of cases of Covid-19 there is a ray hope for distance runners in the North East with the inaugural Ultra North, which takes place on Saturday 3 October 2020.
Covid-19 secure event protocol will be in place to ensure the safety of runners while the ultra marathon format lends itself to social distancing!
Ultra North starts and finishes in Newcastle and participants will follow a stunning route exploring some of the North East's industrial heritage, glorious trails and woodland.
With the choice of the full 55K (approx. 34 miles) ultra distance or 27.5K (17 miles), Ultra North is an ideal event for runners and walkers of all abilities whether seasoned ultra-runners, walkers seeking a challenge, or first timers looking to push themselves even further.
Race organisers, the Great Run Company, are excited to be trying something new in the growing area of ultra-running. Many of Newcastle’s landmarks are world famous but organisers also wanted the opportunity to showcase the hidden gems that the region has to offer.
They're aiming to provide participants with a suitable challenge and perhaps some surprises along the way, as the pass numerous landmarks and enjoy some lesser known points of interest on their active journey.
Entries close on Friday 25 September. Find out more at the event website.
