Torchlight Trail Runner

Torches, Trails and Terrific Times

Fancy running by torchlight on the stunning Anglesey coast?

A twilight run on the stunning Anglesey coast sounds like a wonderful Welsh adventure and the perfect way to spend a September evening. The Black Diamond Torchlight Trail will return to the island on 10 September and offers runners the choice of 5K and 10K distances.

Set amid the pine trees and sand dunes of Newborough Forest, with the sun setting and the moon reflecting off the sea these trail races offer a very special experience for all those who take part. This is an event with some world-class scenery, Snowdonia's awe-inspiring landscape is the backdrop.

The event first took place back in 2019 and due to the pandemic hasn't taken place since. 2022 will see the return of the event, with everyone hopeful that the 'spectacularly dramatic sunset sky of reds and pinks' experienced at the inaugural event, will be experienced again.

The unique selling point of the race is obviously the torchlight aspect with organisers saying: "This is a fun race for all ages and abilities who love trail running and want to try something a bit different!"

The Torchlight Trail follows the same run route as the Sandman Sprint Triathlon (which takes place earlier in the day), only this time it's by head torch light! The run takes place on the rugged trails of Newborough Forest, and runners will find that running through the trees and down along the sand dunes is both wonderful and gruelling. The last 1.5K is almost entirely on sand but it only makes the accomplishment all the more rewarding.

5K runners will tackle the course once while 10K runners get to go at it a second time! Both distances start and finish in the event village where there will be music, commentary, shopping and food.
