Monkton Milers

Everyone's A Winner

jogscotland's annual awards took place at the weekend, but who went home with silverware?

All eyes turned to Glasgow's Hilton Hotel at the weekend where the 2024 4J Studios jogscotland Annual Awards were taking place. Those attending were treated to an inspiring evening that celebrated the very best of our community, alongside the scottishathletics clubs and athletes that have excelled in the past 12 months.

The evening included the chance to hear from Guest of Honour Liz McColgan, who was interviewed by host Bryan Burnett. A spokesperson said: "Every year, we are inspired by the stories from all our nominees, which showcase some of the incredible achievements of our groups and their members. Well done everyone."

This year is was Troon-based Monkton Milers who claimed the title of Group of the Year. An inclusive group that strives to adapt to the needs of each of its members, Monkton Milers aims to make every member feel valued. Joggers have achieved a range of individual goals since joining the group, from fitness to friendship, and the group has also worked together to raise money for charity.

Achiever of the Year went to Marc Fairbairn of PAACE Yourself. Marc started the Couch to 5K programme in late 2023, ultimately aiming to run 10K to raise funds for Cancer Research UK in memory of a friend. From finding running for 60 seconds a challenge in the beginning, Marc completed his first ever 10K in May this year. One year on from joining PAACE Yourself, Marc has not only completed that 10K, but also a half marathon, showing that anything is possible with determination.

Awards also went to George Findlay (Anster Allsorts) for Jog Leader of the Year and Charlie Wood (Insch jogscotland) was presented with the SAMH Mental Wellbeing Award. If you'd like to know more, visit the jogscotland website.
