March's Tasty Challenge
A popular springtime challenge has opened for entries and the tasty goodies on offer are just as appealing as the scenic course...
The Belvoir Challenge has opened for entries with the usual choice of two distances on offer. Taking place on 1 March next year in the Vale of Belvoir, the event will again be raising funds for Harby Primary School. If you are keen then it pays to be quick off the mark, take advantage of early bird pricing and save £5 if you enter before 14 November.
The 26 and 15 mile routes follow footpaths, byways, tracks and minor roads throughout the beautiful Vale of Belvoir and with the kind permission of the Duke of Rutland, goes through the Belvoir Estate. Both routes start and finish at Harby Village Hall but each year they are varied in order to keep it fresh and interesting for entrants.
The event is well known for its checkpoints and the gastronomic delights that are worthy of a place on the Great British Bake Off! Homemade cakes, chocolate, sandwiches, biscuits and sweets are on the menu along with drinks to keep energy levels topped up especially when navigating claggy sections in the fields.
A previous participant, Julie Walton, commented: "I cant tear myself away from the checkpoints, love the food!"
The Challenge is organised by the Friends of Harby School who fundraise for the school, providing equipment and enabling activities in support of the curriculum for the benefit of the children - so by entering you will be doing your bit to help them achieve this.
