The Railway Relay is a team running event organised by Steven Garden, taking place on the Formartine and Buchan Way in Aberdeenshire. Teams of three to five runners complete the 27 mile route by sharing nine relay legs, creating a fun and inclusive event that welcomes runners of all abilities.Â
The relay follows the former railway line from Peterhead to Ellon on a traffic free shared use path. Individual legs range from approximately 2 to 4 miles, with teams travelling between changeover points before handing over to the next runner.
Staggered start waves help bring teams together for a lively finish in Ellon, where food, drinks and finisher's medals await. The friendly format, supportive atmosphere and unique relay experience make it a popular summer event in north east Scotland.
