Virtual or real: The Race Organiser has it covered
Virtual January challenges and an unmissable 20% discount offer from The Race Organiser to get you up and running in 2021
The Race Organiser has put together two attractive virtual options to help motivate us throughout the first month of Lockdown 3.0. Plus there is the TRO January Sale with 20% off live events when they resume (offer ends at close of play on Monday, 11 January).
The 20% off code is HNY21 and comes with TRO's standard COVID-safe guarantee of either the event going ahead in a COVID-secure manner or fully flexible transfer arrangements, so you can book in total confidence.
We have checked and the 20% off means you will save money on each and every event you enter in advance – the more you enter the more you save. It does not mean you only have to run 8K of a 10K race, for example, to qualify for a finisher's medal!
There are potentially dozens of events within easy travelling distance of where you live (which could be useful if we return to the previous Tier system post-lockdown). Venues are available in Greater London, Essex, Berkshire and Surrey, plus a few in the Midlands.
Race distances range from 5k to full marathon and surfaces include roads, towpaths, trails and cross country. You literally pays your money (20% less than normal, remember) and takes your choice!
Meanwhile, why not kickstart your 2021 training by entering one of TRO's January Virtual challenges? For a fee of £15, you can sign up to complete a personal distance challenge (25K, 50K, 100K, or 200K) or go for the team target of 1,000K by 31 January. Your entry fee also entitles you to a virtual race every weekend, with a free pair of socks for every one completed!
An alternative, for closer to real racing experience, is to enter TRO's Virtual January Classics. Using the RunGo app, you can compete for a top spot on the leaderboard or aim to set a course PB on one or more selected iconic routes around The Royal Parks in London or Draycote Water in Warwickshire. Every entrant (£15 per event) receives a pair of running socks and bespoke medal for each event completed.
