Siege Run!
This new events blends of endurance running and a theatrical setting...
A brand new endurance challenge is set to bring a touch of medieval drama to the Scottish running calendar in 2026 with the launch of The Iron Keep, a five hour siege run staged at Duncarron Medieval Village. And entries are now open!
Organised by Outsider Events, the inaugural edition will take place on 4 April and promises a race experience unlike anything else in the country. Set within the unique wooden fort and village near the Carron Valley, the event will see runners take on a 6.5KÂ loop, completing as many laps as possible within a five hour time limit.
The Iron Keep is designed to test not only endurance but also pacing and strategy. Participants can choose to tackle the challenge solo or as part of a pair or team of four, deciding how best to manage their effort across the full five hours. With the race beginning in daylight and finishing after dark, the atmosphere is set to evolve throughout the event as the village setting transforms under torchlight.
Spectators will be able to gather in a central village hub while runners pass through on each lap, with music, themed touches and a tavern style aid station adding to the immersive feel. Fancy dress is strongly encouraged, with prizes on offer for the most eye catching individual and team outfits.
