The Holmfirth 10K is an undulating road race through the countryside surrounding Hade Edge and the Holme Valley in West Yorkshire. Evolving from the longstanding Holmfirth 15, the race follows a challenging but runnable course through rolling hills and open moorland scenery.
Starting on Dunford Road in Hade Edge, runners climb gently towards Harden before descending to Winscar and running alongside Winscar Reservoir. A second climb rises from Dunford Bridge onto Winscar Edge before the route returns along the gently undulating Dunford Road. The final 2K provides a fast descent back towards Hade Edge, with the race finishing with a lap of the recreation ground.
With around 211 metres of ascent across the 10K, the course rewards runners who are comfortable with sustained climbs and changing gradients while remaining entirely on roads. Views across Winscar Reservoir, Thurlstone Moor and the surrounding countryside give the race a distinctive rural character, with the combination of climbing, descending and a quick final section creating a varied road running challenge.
