Have A Bash At The Dooker’s Dash

Fun for all the family at this scenic summertime event...

This summer Tarbert will once again play host to the Dooker’s Dash, a lively and inclusive running event designed to bring the entire community together. With races for all ages and abilities, scenic routes and a welcoming atmosphere, this year’s event on 16 August promises to be the biggest and best yet.

Organisers are enthusiastic about the return of the event, which is centred around ensuring everyone feels part of the day, no matter their age or experience. For the youngest participants, a series of children’s races will be held at the local playpark. These flat and accessible routes are designed to be calm and welcoming - the emphasis is on confidence, inclusion and fun.

The main children’s races will take place on the football pitch, offering a safe, traffic-free environment for school-age runners to show off their speed. Spectators are encouraged to come along and cheer them on as they dash across the grass and soak up the excitement.

For older runners or anyone looking for a challenge, the 5K race is the highlight of the day. Starting at Garval Point, the route winds its way through the picturesque harbour area of Tarbert and finishes at the marina. It’s a stunning course to run, jog or walk, and a great opportunity to experience the beauty of the local area.

After the running is done, the day continues at Tarbert Bowling Club with an open afternoon of activities and entertainment. Attendees can try their hand at lawn bowls, give pickleball a go, shoot hoops on the basketball court or simply enjoy refreshments and music in good company.
