The Charnwood Challenge is an off-road event for runners and walkers, covering approximately 10 miles through the Charnwood countryside.
Starting and finishing at Nanpantan Scout Group HQ in Loughborough, the route follows public rights of way and trails through a varied rural landscape. Underfoot conditions can include rocks, mud, tree roots and wet grass, while steep climbs and descents add to the challenge. Some sections of the course pass through rural areas away from road access.
Runners and walkers have separate mass starts, allowing participants to take on the challenge at their own pace. A water station is positioned just beyond halfway, with additional water and refreshments available at the finish.
A Junior Challenge Fun Run also forms part of the event, while prizes are awarded across running and walking categories. Secure bag storage, toilets and first aid support are available at the event headquarters.
