Double up for Great Scottish Events' October Challenge

No tatties required for this virtual two-part challenge

Runners taking on ‘The Great Scottish October Challenge’ have just 10 days left to complete their two chosen events.

The autumn challenge is the latest virtual event organised by Great Scottish Events, the company behind Edinburgh and Perth’s Tattie Runs and the Great Scottish Walk and Run Festival – all of which were postponed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Late summer’s Great Scottish Mile was also converted into a virtual event.

The Great Scottish October Challenge is described by its organisers as offering ‘a pick and mix of events’.

Runners hoping to take part must choose two different events from a choice of eight distances – ranging from a half marathon run or 20km walk, right down to a 1500m walk – and complete them by Halloween.

The event has already attracted participants from around the world – including Canada, New Zealand, Romania and Kenya – keen to get their hands on the ‘big medal’ and bespoke tshirt sent to all participants.

Limited places are still available for those who haven't yet registered.

Runners who can’t squeeze in a half marathon and a 10k before the end of the month might like to take part in Great Scottish Events’ ‘Virtual Christmas Challenge’ – a choice of runs, walks and toddles to be completed over the month of December – in place of their usual Christmas Charity Festival.

Runners signing up before 20 December will have the chance to win the Great Scottish Events’ fabulous annual Christmas hamper.
