Take a virtual world trip with Mash Running
While overseas travel has been furloughed for now there is a virtual way to visit countries where you’ve dreamed of running. Book your ticket for Mash Running’s ‘Conquer the Continents’ 5 Mile Event and start your global adventure.
This round the world trip involves 7 continents beginning with North America and there is an all-conquering medal for each one. Billed as an antidote to lockdown, this new initiative is open-ended meaning it can be completed whenever and wherever available. A route close to home, garden, yard or a treadmill – any of these are acceptable.
It’s all about the distance. Participants can complete 5 miles or further in one go or break it down into smaller distances, for example, 1 mile laps. This is particularly aimed at people new to running.
This event is also flexible in terms of activity. People can run, walk or cycle at a time to suit them and children as well as adults are welcome to have a go. They log their miles via their Garmin, Suunto, Fitbit or running app and if using a treadmill, take a photo of the control panel showing their mileage.
When the distance is completed, participants provide evidence in the form of a photo, screen shot or data to Mash Running who will send out a medal in return.
This is something new and different for these challenging times but Mash Running ask participants to continue to follow government guidelines. Choose a route near to where you live, apply social distancing and only exercise with others if they are part of your household.
There are a limited number of places for this first stop on the journey. Register now at the Mash Running website.
