The Stur Half is a long established road running event organised by Dorset Doddlers, offering a Half Marathon and 5K around the quiet rural roads of Sturminster Newton. First held in 1990, the event has earned a reputation for its welcoming atmosphere, picturesque countryside and memorable post race hospitality.

The Half Marathon follows an accurately measured road course through the rolling Dorset landscape surrounding Sturminster Newton, while the multi terrain 5K provides a shorter challenge. Quiet country lanes, supportive marshals and attractive rural scenery create an enjoyable experience for both first time half marathon runners and experienced competitors.

With chip timing, handcrafted wooden finisher's medals, the event's famous Honeybun cake and a friendly race village, the Stur Half continues to be one of Dorset's most popular summer road running events, combining traditional club organisation with a warm community welcome.
