The Striders Trail 5 is a five mile trail race through Sankey Valley Park in St Helens. Starting and finishing at the Sankey Visitors Centre, the route explores the paths and trails regularly used by St Helens Striders for their own club running.
Runners tackle a course made up predominantly of compact trail surfaces, with some sections of tarmac path along the way. Trail conditions can become uneven, muddy and rocky, adding an off road challenge to the five mile distance. The park remains open to the public during the race, with marshals positioned around the course to provide directions and support.
The race has a friendly local club atmosphere, with prizes for the leading male and female runners as well as a range of veteran age categories. All finishers receive a goody bag and race memento, with post race food, drinks and the prize presentation taking place close to the start and finish area.
