Scenic Challenge Returns At Stonehaven Half Marathon 2026

Scenic coastal half returns...

The Stonehaven Half Marathon returns to Stonehaven on Sunday 5 July 2026, offering a well established mixed terrain half marathon alongside a 1K fun run, with a 10:00am start from Mineralwell Park.

The course is known for its challenging but rewarding profile, taking runners over hilly and undulating roads as well as forest tracks around the town, with four water stations positioned along the route. It is not a closed road race, so awareness is key, but the varied terrain adds to the appeal for runners looking for something beyond a flat PB course.

First established in 1986, the event has become a key fixture in the north east Scotland running calendar, attracting a loyal following each summer. Its long history and scenic setting help maintain its reputation as a popular race that continues to draw runners back year after year.

Entries are now open with no on the day registration available, and the race typically operates with a limited field, meaning strong demand is expected as the early July date approaches. The three hour cut off and structured race morning timetable make it accessible for a wide range of abilities while still offering a competitive edge.

The event is organised by Stonehaven Running Club, a community driven club that has played a central role in delivering the race for decades, helping maintain its friendly atmosphere and consistent quality while supporting local causes and participation.

With its mix of coastal scenery, testing terrain and established reputation, the Stonehaven Half Marathon continues to stand out as one of Scotland’s most enduring summer races.

Entries are available now via Entry Central.
