The South Coast Series has a brand new addition for 2026 – the Housedean Half Marathon and Housedean 10K on Sunday, 28th June.

Jake Witney, founder of The South Coast Series, has been a passionate runner since the age of 14. Born and raised on the South Downs, Jake has explored nearly every trail the area has to offer. After an injury sustained in a 100K race, Jake had a bold idea: to create a race that felt fully supported, fully stocked, and truly runner-focused.

In 2025, that vision was brought to life with the River Run Half Marathon, designed to challenge, inspire, and energise runners, while celebrating the stunning South Downs landscape. The South Coast Series now boasts three spectacular trail events: The Housdean Half Marathon & 10K; The Trail Trot 5K, 10K, Marathon & 50K; and the original River Run Half Marathon.

What makes The South Coast Series truly special isn’t just the trails – it's the local community. Jake is committed to working closely with local businesses, artisans, and producers, making each race a showcase for the region’s best. From local businesses at aid stations to vibrant post-race celebrations, every event is designed to support the community, energise runners, and create memories that last long after the finish line.

This new event is based at Housedean Farm Campsite, near Lewes, where runners can take advantage of Housedean Farm’s on-site glamping and camping facilities. From the very start, the course takes runners on a gentle ascent onto the South Downs, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views across Lewes, Plumpton, and the surrounding countryside.

Whether it’s your first half-marathon or your hundredth, The Housedean Half offers a truly memorable experience – a unique race starting from a working farm in the heart of East Sussex. Expect a mix of gravel paths and well-kept trails, weaving through the picturesque farmland – perfect for soaking up the views, snapping some photos, and maybe even greeting a few friendly farm animals along the way!
