Santa is running!

Chesterfield Santas are running to town

People of all ages will have a jolly run (or walk) and support a local charity at the same time.

Queens Park, Chesterfield will turn red on Christmas Eve (24 December) for the Santa Fun Run. Red suited runners (and walkers) of all ages will complete laps around the park and receive chocolate treats for their efforts.

Organised by Cannon Events and under ARC rules, the Chesterfield Santa Fun Run is designed to get everyone in the mood for the 25 December. There is a 5K and 1.5K for youngsters with a warm up before both of these to loosen off the muscles and practice a “ho ho ho” or two.

The kids go first, warming up at 9.45am before heading off at 10am for three and a half laps around the Cricket pitch.

Then it’s the turn of the adults who warm up at 10.15am leaving them ready for the start of their run at 10.30am. The 5K involves a lap around the Cricket pitch followed by a little over four laps on the perimeter path.

Both runs finish in front of the Cricket Pavilion where finishers are rewarded with a commemorative medal and selection box. The big man himself won’t be there to check if they’ve been naughty or nice or perhaps he will.....

Expect a festive atmosphere on the day with music from the Ashover Brass Band; the opportunity to meet and talk to Elastic FM community radio and 1866 sports radio and sample a crepe or several from Sweet-a-Fayre.

The event is supporting Ashgate Hospice and CSALS (Community Save a Life Scheme) online first aid course.

There is still time to sign up for the Chesterfield Santa Fun Run at the Cannon Events website.
