Try A Tri On Skye?
Discover your inner Olympian, traverse breathtaking terrain and soak in the unforgettable scenery of the Isle of Skye this month...
Have you been inspired by Great Britain's triathlon successes at the Paris Olympics? How do you fancy experiencing the thrill of a personal victory yourself? How about having a go at this month's Staffin Triathlon or if that really is a step too far out your comfort zone there is always the 10K instead.
2023 was the inaugural staging of the event and proved to be a hit with triathletes and runners so organisers are pleased to be bringing it back for 2024. They say: "Experience the magic of the Isle of Skye as you push your limits against a stunning backdrop. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out, there's a distance for everyone.
"In our triathlon you can test your skills with our Sprint or Mini-Sprint distances. Conquer the open-water swim in Staffin Bay, navigate the scenic bike course, and finish strong on the exhilarating run."
And of the 10K they have this to say: "We can’t lie, the route is not flat and fast, so no PBs to be had here. But the terrain will excite and challenge both the novice and the experienced triathlete or runner. Challenge Yourself in Paradise."
Set beneath the dramatic outline of the Trotternish Ridge on the north east coast of the Isle of Skye. Staffin is famed for its white houses, beautiful beach and amazing geology. With the most rugged yet breathtaking land and seascape, the village has spectacular views, and the clear clean waters of the Hebridean Minch at Staffin Bay frame the beauty of this peaceful Highland retreat.
This event means you can experience some of the best scenery Skye has to offer, the sandy Staffin beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island due to its close proximity to the Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock. It provides sheltered waters, and is most famous for its dinosaur footprints discovered in 2002 - the largest of their kind in Scotland.
