One is the magic number for Social Run Group virtual

Social Run Group (SRG), the popular nationwide network of free weekly runs organised around Up & Running's retail footprint, has had a virtual makeover in response to current challenges.

SRG has adapted to Government coronavirus guidelines and is now a virtual community during this period of self-isolation and social-distancing. Instead of meeting once a week for a social 5k, SRG regulars around the country are being encouraged to sign up to the virtual format and stay #RunConnected through the National SRG on Facebook.

This new move is aimed at encouraging SRG runners and new recruits to work together and support each other during this testing time. SRG and Up & Running is determined to stand by its community and wider society and help virtually connect as many people as possible.

Up & Running's campaigning General Manager Jonathan Midwood is 100% behind SRG virtual. He told runABC online: "Our ‘virtual’ community is so, so important and by keeping the chat going the ‘isolation’ doesn’t have to be so lonely. Share your stories, tales of daring do, plans, hopes and dreams and above all let’s build this running family together. Please join us on our Facebook page and ensure that we keep the running community active."

Meanwhile, out in the dangerous real world, Up & Running stores across the country from Newcastle to Bournemouth, Shrewsbury to Cambridge, are closed. The Up & Running team has been following Government guidelines throughout the pandemic and stresses that all runners need to follow the guidelines around social distancing and self-isolation.
