Buxton Carnival 4 Ready To GO
A parade of running on Carnival Day in front of cheering crowds and hopefully, fine weather...
There's a great chance for runners to have their moment in the sun at the Buxton Carnival 4 (Saturday 8 July) as part of a packed day of events in this Derbyshire spa town. They will start in front of the Carnival Procession...
The 4 mile road race is second in the schedule for Saturday 8 July, marking a week-long celebration at the Buxton Well Dressing Festival for 2023. Saturday begins with a dog show followed by the Buxton Carnival 4 at 1.45pm where runners will be sent on their way by the Well Dressing Festival Queen. The Carnival Parade follows at 2pm.
With numbers limited to 200, this is a small yet perfectly formed and enjoyable race from Buxton AC with an energetic, lively atmosphere and plenty of support along the way. Pavements will be lined with enthusiastic spectators, all of whom are keen to give participants a shout or several.
They head off from New Wye Street alongside Spring Gardens and continue towards Leek Road then Macclesfield Road before turning towards the Pavilion Gardens then it's back to Leek Road and another lap as they steady themselves for a sprint finish in front of cheering crowds in the Market Place.
There are prizes for the top three men and women, team and vet category winners; first male and female junior aged 15 to 19 years and the Thomas Theyer Memorial Trophy for the first local junior. These will be presented at the Race HQ.
All finishers receive a medal.
