Enjoy a memorable coastal running experience at the Southend Half Marathon, one of Essex's most popular road races. Organised in support of Havens Hospices, this well-established event attracts thousands of runners, from experienced club athletes chasing a personal best to newcomers taking on the half marathon distance for the first time.

Starting and finishing at East Beach in Shoeburyness, the two-lap course follows the scenic coastline, offering sweeping views across the Thames Estuary. With its flat profile, traffic-free roads and long stretches of coastal scenery, the route offers excellent opportunities for fast times, although runners may need to contend with a sea breeze along the way. Wheelchair athletes are also welcome to take part.

Renowned for its enthusiastic crowds and lively atmosphere, the Southend Half Marathon delivers plenty of encouragement from start to finish. Spectators line the route to cheer runners on, while pacers help participants work towards their target times. A vibrant runners' village, entertainment and a welcoming community atmosphere add to the occasion, making this a rewarding event for runners of all abilities.
