The Southend Half Marathon starts and finishes at East Beach in Shoeburyness, Essex. A long established fixture in the South East running calendar, the race follows a Half Marathon route along the Essex coastline, attracting runners of all abilities from first timers to experienced competitors.
The course consists of two laps on closed roads, running alongside the Thames Estuary and through coastal sections of Southend-on-Sea. Its flat profile and traffic free layout make it a popular choice for runners targeting a PB, while the seafront setting provides continuous estuary views throughout much of the race.
With a fast course, coastal scenery and strong local support, the Southend Half Marathon has become one of Essex’s best known road races and a popular early summer Half Marathon.
