Snowdonia Marathon set to be another stunner
It probably won’t come as a surprise for those who have competed at (or even heard of the event for that matter) but the upcoming Snowdonia Marathon Eryri on Saturday 27 October will host a full house. The event, staged for over three decades, is widely thought to be one of the most picturesque marathons in the UK.
This year will represent the 36th edition of the marathon with 2700 runners set to compete. Indeed, organisers revealed that all of the places were snapped up within two hours of going live - at one point, there were 4500 applications at the entry website.
As well as being one of the most picturesque on the circuit, it is brutally tough too. The demanding and spectacular route encircles Snowdon, Wales’ and England’s highest peak, and totals 3000m of elevation over 26.2 miles.
For 2018, organisers have pushed forward with their intention of eliminating the use of as much plastic as possible. As such, all runners will be handed one of reusable 500ml bottles, full of lovely Welsh water, as they cross the finish line.
