Santas Take To The Skye

Start planning your festive race diary now...

Another day, another festive race shout out! This time is it the turn of the Skye Santa Dash which has just opened for entries. The festive favourite will return to Portree on 2 December with organisers once again promising a magical race day experience.

Speaking about their Christmas-inspired event, organisers promise: "Shinier, brighter and more twinkly than ever, this event is for absolutely everyone and we promise it will get you in the festive mood. For a start, everyone will get a free Santa hat when they sign up."

There is no such thing as 'too much' as far as this race is concerned. Organisers continue: "Dress up as your favourite Christmas character, or wear your pyjamas and dash through Somerled Square until your face hurts from laughing. Get creative. There’ll be prizes for best individual and team costumes, as well as a woofingly brilliant Santa Paws parade where all furry four-legged friends are most welcome.

In previous years runners have taken part dressed as Santas, reindeers, Grinches, elves, fairies, gingerbread men and wishing moons. With the real Santa Claus himself also taking part - you don't need to worry if you're not a fast runner as you'll be in good company!

The Santa Dash starts and finishes at Somerled Square in the centre of the town and is a 1.75 mile route suitable for runners, walkers, very young elves, pushchairs and wheelchairs decked with tinsel. There will also be hot chocolate and cookies at the finish line.
