Trail Blazing Festival Fun
One of the UK's best festival experiences has trail running on the bill...
Now in it's fifth year, award-winning Orbit Wellbeing Festival will return to its stunning setting in the private estate of Hopton Court in South Shropshire over the weekend of 7-9 June. With incredible presenters, workouts, yoga, trail runs, talks, camping, glamping, posh loos and showers, street food, bars, live music, DJ sets and children's entertainment all planned, there's plenty to look forward to at this summertime event.
The trail running mentioned comes courtesy of five events which will take place across the weekend. The Ale & Cider Trail Run is a Friday evening social bimble around the Hopton Court Estate where those taking part will find various supping points with mini tasters of locally brewed ale and cider.
The Hopton Court 10K is a trail run across fields, streams and through woodlands while the Run the Radar challenge takes runners from Hopton Wafers to the top of Lee Hill where they will find the iconic RAF radar tower. Organisers say: "On a clear day you can see Snowdonia, the Peak District, the Malverns and the Brecon Beacons! The run back down is breathtaking!"
The Catherton Common Crawl is a social trail run from the festival site to the stunning Catherton Common. Wild, bleak and uncultivated, the common is an ancient landscape with large tracts of heather and furze making it a wonderful place for birds that have vanished from other parts of the country.
If that's not enough, there is also a family fun run around the campsite on the Saturday for which fancy dress is optional! And if it is dogs rather than children you are looking to entertain, don't worry as they can join runners on all the trail runs.
