New Challenge Heads To Sherwood In 2026
Test your endurance while being part of a weekend-long running celebration in the forest...
The Sherwood Big Loop is set to debut on 18 April 2026, bringing a brand new ultra-distance experience to the heart of Nottinghamshire’s Sherwood Pines. Featuring an extended 10-mile loop through one of the UK’s most loved forests, this event invites solo runners and teams to take on multiple distances in a race format designed for adventure and endurance.
Organisers, Rasselbock Running, have expanded their usual Sherwood Pines event to create something bigger and bolder. They say: "Moving beyond the traditional 5-6K loops, this new 10-mile route will take runners deep into the pines, exploring previously untapped areas of oak woodland and wildflower trails."
The event headquarters will be set up to support runners throughout the weekend, complete with camping available from Friday 17 April, a communal area for crews and supporters, food trucks, chip timing and full on-site support. The HQ will act as both a base camp and social hub for participants, creating an immersive trail-running experience.
Each runner will receive a bespoke finisher’s medal and trophies will be awarded to the top two male and female runners in each solo distance. Team categories will also be recognised with awards for the fastest teams in each distance challenge.
With fully stocked aid stations, first aid coverage and a welcoming atmosphere, The Sherwood Big Loop is shaping up to be an exciting new addition to the UK trail-running calendar.
