Scurry Events launches new trail festival in NE Fife
Tentsmuir Forest to host family-friendly November races
Edinburgh-based race organisers Scurry Events have just launched a new series of off-road races in North East Fife.
Scurry Around Tentsmuir Forest Trail running festival – to be held on Sunday, 7 November – will offer runners of all standards a family friendly mix of multi-terrain runs.
The new festival has already proved to be popular with runners. Just a few days after entries launched, nearly half of the available half-marathon places have been sold and over a third of those for the 10K.
The half marathon, 10K and 5K events will all follow separate one-lap courses through and around the scenic Tentsmuir Forest, starting at the Larick Centre, Tayport (Links North Road).
Each of the main races will be fully marshalled and entirely off-road.
A separate 1.2K fun run for the whole family will follow a ‘badger’ signposted trail around a safe, grassy area near to the main start.
All proceeds from the 1.2K fun run will be donated to the Tayport Community Trust, with further donations to the charity to be collected by the marshals throughout the day.
All half marathon,10K and 5K runners will receive a finishers medal and a race memento.
Scurry Events’ first race was ‘Scurry to the Sea’, a 12-mile ‘urban orienteering’ event starting in the Pentland Hills and finishing on the beach at Musselburgh.
In 2018, the company expanded to manage two family-friendly off road winter runs, one at Newhailes House and Gardens and another at the Hermitage of Braids. Since then, the company has started to offer swim/run events, and like many others during the pandemic, virtual challenges.
With their latest addition to their roster at Tentsmuir, Scurry Events will be continuing their tradition of creating community spirit, supporting charities and voluntary organisations, and promoting a healthy lifestyle through having a lot of fun.
