Twice Is Nice At This Autumn Trail Offering
Take your pick from one of two races at this September trail event...
There's still time to nab a spot at this September's Sandstone Trail Races with organisers making a last call for entries to the popular and regularly sold out event. The terrain and the views across the Cheshire plains are amongst its highlights and with two distances to choose from, is an event for both new and experienced trail runners.
Taking place on Sunday 10 September, the autumn double-header is made up of two point to point races. The A Race is 27.5K (17.5 miles) with 655m climb starting from Duckington and is ideal for the more experienced runner. The B Race is 17K (11.5 miles) with 288m of climb starting from Beeston and is better suited for those wishing to try their hand at trail running.
Both races finish at Delamere Forest and there is an optional bus to both start lines from the forest in the morning. The course is marked with circular black and yellow signs – useful for the competitive runner and helpful for the newcomer, and whilst it follows the Sandstone Trail path, sections of it go through farmland and include stiles and/or gates.
Conditions may be wet and muddy depending upon the weather but whatever Mother Nature throws at participants, marshals and volunteers will encourage them to the finish in Delamere Forest. Race organisers comment: "Another tip for those joining us for the Sandstone Trail Races in September. Be prepared for the weather! Check the weather forecast ahead of time and dress appropriately for the conditions."
