The Sandstone Trail Half is a point to point trail race following part of Cheshire's long established Sandstone Trail. Starting at Bickerton Hill, the route follows the distinctive waymarked trail north before finishing at Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre.
Runners tackle a half marathon course across trails, public footpaths and sections connecting with local roads, with the route marked by the Sandstone Trail's yellow circular waymarkers. Two drink stations are positioned at approximately six and ten miles, and a 3 hour 30 minute cut off applies to the race.
The event continues the heritage of the Sandstone Trail Race, which was first established in 1977. A timed out crossing of the busy A51 prioritises runner safety, while marshals are positioned where the trail meets local roads and the finish at Kelsall Hill provides facilities including showers and a cafe.
