The Rutland Night 10K is an atmospheric evening race beside Rutland Water, starting and finishing at Normanton on the south shore. The traffic free course is illuminated after dark, with Normanton Church providing a distinctive backdrop to the event.
The 10K follows the shoreline from Normanton before crossing the length of the dam and continuing through Sykes Lane towards Whitwell Creek. Runners reach the turnaround point at 5K before retracing the route back to Normanton. Most of the course is on tarmac, although damp, muddy or leaf covered sections can occur in the wooded areas.
Runners set off in the evening with a torch required to provide additional light alongside the course illuminations. The event is chip timed and includes a personalised race number, finisher medal and glow wristband, with prizes for the leading male and female runners. The combination of a flat course, waterside setting and night time atmosphere creates a distinctive 10K experience at Rutland Water.
