Running Bee at Anderton Boat Lift

New 10K Launching In 2022

There's a new event for Cheshire in May next year...

The Running Bee Foundation has launched its first Cheshire 10K to add to their series of community race events for 2022, raising money to support local health and wellbeing initiatives. The Anderton Boat Lift 10K will see runners take on a 10K route amid the beautiful surroundings of Northwich, Cheshire.

The race on Sunday 15 May 2022 will start and finish at the iconic Anderton Boat Lift, known as one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the Waterways’ and nicknamed the Cathedral of the Canals. The route is undulating and takes in the picturesque setting of Marbury Country Park and Anderton Nature Park.

Kevin Harmer from The Running Bee Foundation told runABC: “We’re delighted to be adding a brand new race to The Running Bee’s race events in 2022, in a brand new location. The Anderton Boat Lift 10K is our first race hosted in Cheshire and is located in a popular historic setting.

"Like all of our races, profits raised will go towards health and wellbeing projects in the community and we’re very excited to be expanding our reach into Cheshire."

Carly Graham, Visitor Services Manager at Anderton Visitor Centre commented: "We believe waterways and the outdoors have the power to make a difference to people’s lives, improving our mental health and wellbeing. So when we got asked to host the event we jumped at the chance!”

All runners on crossing the finish line will receive an Anderton Boat Lift 10K commemorative medal, a technical t-shirt and official race chip timing. There will be water available half way and at the end of the course.

All profits from the race will be granted to community projects and causes in Cheshire to fund health and wellbeing projects and fight childhood obesity.
