Run With The Wind Half Marathon

Run Like The Wind Into Autumn

New autumn date for popular half marathon...

It's a new autumn date for the 2024 Run With The Wind Half Marathon which will return to its popular pre-2019 circular route over Ardochrig close to the eastern end of Whitelee Wind Farm on 22 September. The event, organised by Strathaven Striders, is generally held in the springtime, but the good news with the change in date is that there is still plenty of time to sign yourself up and get the training in!

Returning to its popular circular route, runners will follow an anti-clockwise route over quiet and undulating roads to the west of Strathaven climbing to its highest point at the halfway mark (the eastern wind farm entrance at Ardochrig).

The race passes through some wonderful scenery including woodland and rural areas and passes by Whitelee Windfarm (the largest in Europe) where there are also stunning panoramic views over the Clyde Valley basin.

The race HQ and registration will be in Strathaven Academy (ML10 6DP).  Organisers will utilise the Academy for registration, changing, toilets, post event refreshments and prizegiving.

All those taking part will receive a refreshment and memento at the finish. Organisers say: "In an effort to keep entry costs as low as possible there will be no finisher t-shirts, however, a limited number will be available for purchase at race HQ on the day."

Prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female runners overall and to first place male and female in each of the age group categories.
