Run the Borders starts and finishes at The Greenyards in Melrose, following the 109K Borders Abbeys Way in a clockwise loop through Melrose, Kelso, Jedburgh, Hawick and Selkirk. The route combines trails, farm tracks, riverside paths, quiet roads and rolling hills, passing the historic abbeys of Melrose, Dryburgh, Kelso and Jedburgh. A 50K option follows the first half of the route before finishing in Jedburgh, while teams can also tackle the full distance as a relay.
Organised by Breaking Strain, the event features generous cut off times, fully marked routes, multiple checkpoints, GPS tracking, drop bag support and mandatory safety kit. The combination of excellent organisation and varied terrain makes it accessible to experienced ultra runners as well as those stepping up to longer trail events.
Run the Borders showcases the history, landscapes and communities of the Scottish Borders, delivering a rewarding ultra trail challenge through one of Scotland's most scenic long distance routes.
