Run Snetterton 2022

Time To Burn Some Rubber

Motor racing circuit provides the venue for Run Snetterton 10K and 5K

"We are passionate about running events and always keen to go the extra mile to create memories that last a lifetime", says the strapline on the Good Running Events website, organisers of a growing number of good running events in Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, and Berkshire.

The next event on Good Running Events calendar is the fast and furious Run Snetterton 10K and 5K at 6:30pm on Wednesday 2 August 2023, on the smooth tarmac of the iconic Snetterton Motor Race Track.

Originally RAF Snetterton Heath, the purpose-built Snetterton Race Circuit was opened in 1953 and the current track layout was designed by Jonathan Palmer in 2011, featuring three circuit lengths of one mile, two miles, and three miles – the latter making Snetterton the second longest motor racing track in Britain behind Silverstone.

The lap record for the full Snetterton course is 1:39.933 by Felipe Nasr in a Formula 3 Dallara F308 in 2011. Without the benefit of the 217bhp of the Dallara single-seat race car – barely more power than a typical family car today – Will Mahoney, of the City of Norwich AC, ran the course in 15:57 last year to win Run Snetterton 5K. The first woman was Jo Andrews, of Bungay Black Dog AC, in 18:29.

Last year's Run Snetterton 10K saw Marcus Sladden (Bungay Black Dog AC, 35:15) and Katie King (St Edmunds Pacers, 37:21) power to success on the super-slick surface.

Run Snetterton 10K and 5K is described by Good Running Events as: "A perfect event for runners of all abilities to break up the working week and stretch their legs." We think it's the perfect opportunity to assess your summer fitness by burning some rubber at this famous racing circuit on one of the flattest courses around.

Last year's results can be studied at runABC South race listing here.

Entries are still available from £16 at Good Running Events here
