Nearly 1000 enjoy a good run at Sandringham
Worlingham Roadrunnerz give this Good Running Event the seal of approval
Worlingham Roadrunnerz (above) were among the 965 runners representing 80 clubs and running groups at a highly successful second hosting of the Sandringham 10K by Good Running Events on Sunday (13th November).
The East Suffolk group is based at Worlingham Primary School, near Beccles, and they had a strong presence at the much-loved country retreat of the British Royal Family, being the private home of four generations of British monarchs since 1862.
Sandringham House stands in a 20,000-acre estate and country park in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and large-scale events within the private grounds are a privilege to be enjoyed. The undulating grounds and paths through the estate provided a challenging course and scenic setting in a blaze of autumnal colours for this runABC featured race.
Powering away at the front of the pack was Nathan Brown (unattached) in 34:20, well clear of Thomas Sargeant (Boston Tri Club, 36:08) and William Watkins (unattached, 36:32).
The leading female athlete was among the 11 runners to finish within 40 minutes on the multi-terrain course. W40 Marie French (Ryston Runners) ran 39:33 to top the podium from W45 Alexandra Smith (Wymondham AC, 41:42) and Kyla Love (unattached, 42:49).
There were 166 finishers inside 50 minutes and 486 home within the hour. The vibrant event village featured live music and PA race commentary plus food and drink outlets, medal engraving facilities, and pre-race and post-event massage.
Good Running Events continue to expand its race programme at Sandringham Estate. The flagship Run Sandringham event is scheduled for 18th June 2023, with the original Run Sandringham Half Marathon supported by Run Sandringham 5K and a Community Mile.
Sandringham 24 is a full 24-hour ultra over the weekend of 18th – 20th August while the Run Sandringham 10K will return to the East Anglian race calendar on Sunday 24th September.
