Run For The 96 Returns For 2018

The fourth annual Run For The 96 5K – A Run To Remember was officially launched last Thursday with organisers confirming the date for the 2018 race. Scheduled for Saturday 12 May, the community legacy event and accompanying fun run will remember the 96 Liverpool fans who lost their lives on 15 April 1989 in the Hillsborough tragedy.

The brainchild of Liverpool fan Dom Williams, organiser of the mammoth three-day Hillsborough-Anfield 96-mile team running challenge, the event has become an important day in which for the families of the 96 and its survivors can come together.

This year, the 23 Foundation joins Everton in the Community and Stanley Park Liverpool CIC as beneficiaries from funds donated and raised by participants. Together, all three organisations support the event’s original vision of creating a positive community legacy event and commitment to ensuring that local communities benefit from the legacy run.

New for 2018 is the introduction of a 96K relay along the Wirral Promenade from Wirral Town Hall and the Hillsborough Memorial Gardens at Wallasey Town Hall. This has been organised for Sunday 6 May with Dom Williams already one of the confirmed participants.

Registration for the Run For The 96 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run is now open, priced at £20 and £10 respectively. Entry and further information is available here.
