Royally Good Races
The wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is the main event this weekend (19-20 May) and there will be plenty of celebrations across the Midlands and the rest of the UK. Here are three races to get everyone in that party mood...
Our royal capers begin tomorrow (Saturday 18 May) in the Clee Hills, Shropshire for The Shin Dig in the Shire trail half and full marathon. This is a well-organised affair by How Hard Can It Be Events & CODRC with plenty of hills and stunning views. Runners complete one lap for the half or two for the marathon and both distances include ‘the bump’ – a steep climb or scramble up Wenlock Edge. Relax afterwards with fine ales and food at the Sun Inn, Corfton.
We keep things light and bright on Sunday at the Colour Blast Dash in Coventry on behalf of the Laura Centre. Chose from 2K or 5K, wear a white t-shirt and be showered with coloured powder as you walk, jog, run or dance around the War Memorial Park. Enter with family or friends and make a day of it.
The merriment continues in Solihull with the 35th Knowle 5K and 10K Fun Run plus KIDSruns for children. The race starts with a lap of the field in front of Arden Academy before heading out towards the High Street and around the town. There are five water stations along the route which will be appreciated by the runners as the forecast is for very warm weather but ensure you are hydrated beforehand.
