Rochdale Half Marathon and 10K

Get race ready for the Rochdale Half Marathon & 10K

Popular event is something to look forward to this autumn

The Williams BMW Rochdale Half Marathon and 10K is revving up for Sunday 3 October, offering runners a long-awaited opportunity to take part in a friendly, safe and supportive race that raises funds for local and national charities. There is more good news in the form of discounted entry fees until 31 March.

Things are moving in the right direction as regards Covid-19 and Boris Johnson’s road map out of lockdown is leading us back to normal times and for runners, this means being able to race against others. And to put their fitness levels to the test after repeated lockdowns and be part of a collective experience after a year staying apart from each other.

This event is a co-ordinated effort from Middleton Harriers, Rochdale Harriers and Rochdale Triathlon Club with full support from Rochdale Borough Council. It starts and finishes on The Esplanade and the Half Marathon and 10K are held on traffic-free, chipped timed courses that are a mix of town and country with plenty of PB-potential. There is also a 1 mile Fun Run for children and families to enjoy (entries open in June 2021).

It’s good to have a goal and what better than a half marathon or 10k as Councillor Janet Emsley advises, saying: “I think everyone needs something to aim for and train for and whatever your level, this event delivers that. The camaraderie is always amazing, personal bests achieved and thousands raised for good causes.”

Over 250 people have already entered – proof of the desire to be on a start line once again - and places are likely to be quickly snapped up, especially at discounted 2020 rates. Every finisher will receive a technical T-shirt and medal.

More information about the event including a Covid-19 guarantee and entry details are available at the Rochdale Borough Council website.
