Devon Trails By Demand

Roadford Lake is the place for the undecided...

If your tribe cannot decide between open-water swimming, cycling, running or all three in a triathlon, Ben Tisdall at Sportiva Events in Totnes, Devon, is your go-to multi-event organiser.

By popular demand from runners, Sportiva Events has added an extra Roadford Lake Trail Race to their schedule on Saturday, 16th May 2026. The trail races, with options from 1K to a half-marathon, are part of a major event weekend at Roadford Lake, with open-water swims on Saturday afternoon and triathlons on Sunday, 17th May.

If you have run Roadford Lake Trail Race before, this will feel novel as the 5K and 10.5K laps are run in the opposite direction to the Autumn race. Although the route shares a lot of the same trails, it feels completely different. The trail race distances are 5K, 10.5K, and a two-lap half-marathon. Younger children are welcome in the 5K. Their entries are at a reduced price, but under-12s must run with an adult at all times. There are no time limits for this event.

If your four-legged friend also needs some exercise, canicross races are available at 5K and 10.5K. Sportiva Events has also added 2K & 1K kids races for children aged 3-11. For all kids' races, Sportiva Events allows adults to run with them for no additional charge.

Race entry includes electronic chip timing, a fully marked & marshalled course, a feed station, a custom finishers' medal, finish line beer & snacks, professional photos, professional first aid, event caterers serving hot food & drinks, free number transfer if you are unable to run, category prizes, and podium presentations.

Lakeside camping is available for those who would like to stay for the weekend at Roadford Lake, also known as Roadford Reservoir, a man-made reservoir fed by the River Wolf. It is located north-east of Broadwoodwidger in West Devon, eight miles east of Launceston, near the Cornwall border, and is the largest area of fresh water in the southwest of England.

Facilities at Roadford Lake include the Roadford Lake Cafe, a Visitor Centre, public toilets, car parking (£6 all day) and a lakeside walk that takes around 50 minutes.
