Rollicking Kick Start To 2025
Start your 2025 running plans in muddy style at the Riverbank Rollick...
The Riverbank Rollick is the ideal race to kick off the New Year and banish those January blues. Scheduled for 12 January, the trail event is part of Thornbury Running Club’s 2025 Race Series along with the Thornbury 10K and the Oldbury 10 Mile.
Billed as 'off road and muddy' the Rollick is a 9.6 mile run on trails, bridle paths, across fields, in woodland, through a stream and along a riverbank! 80% of the course is off-road and as the race is generally held in January this normally means mud and this organisers are sure this is why runners keep coming back!
Thornbury 10K is race number two in the series and will take place on 19 June. The 10K takes place on the rolling country lanes around Oldbury with wonderful views. The race starts just a short walk from Oldbury Sailing Club and finished at The Anchor pub.
Completing the trilogy is the Oldbury 10 Mile which will see runners participate on 21 September. 10 miles is the perfect distance for anyone stepping up from 10K or preparing for a half marathon. The course is on quiet lanes by the River Severn and is both flat and fast. A great run for a Sunday morning to hone your speed or just enjoy the quiet lanes.
Speaking about the series, organisers, Thornbury Running Club, said: "For 2025 we will recognise your efforts with a multi-layer wooden medal. If you take part in all three TRC Race Series 2025 events the medals will link to create a larger impressive medal.
"We want to encourage runners to enter the whole Race Series and are offering a £10 discount for entering all three events and by offering a prize for both the woman and man who achieve the cumulative fastest absolute time across the three events."
