Richmond RUNFEST 2019 medals

Grab a slice of RUNFEST 'pie'

The Richmond RUNFEST 2019 medal has been revealed and is designed to set your heart racing. Inspired by event Charity of the Year the British Heart Foundation (BHF) it is a bold yellow and black triangle of chunky metal that will join with previous RUNFEST medals to form a six-piece 'pie' of awards for avid collectors.

Richmond Runfest attracts many repeat competitors and as all the event medals are the same basic size and shape it does not take too long to create your very own, colourful display of uniquely themed mementos. This year's Runfest will take place over the weekend 14-15 September and the medal events are the Kew Gardens 10K on Saturday and Richmond Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday.

Standard registration is still available for Kew Gardens 10K but the only route remaining into Sunday's marathon and half marathon is to run for one of the event charities, which can add to the experience in so many ways. While all the main charities have different offers, most include training and fundraising advice, running vest, newsletters, social media boosts and event support on the day. Plus, of course, the priceless feeling of being part of a team that is working towards the same goal for a great cause.

Last year's winners of Kew Gardens 10K were Commonwealth Games double marathon winner Michael Shelley (Australia, 30:21) and Rebecca Murray (Bedford & County, 34:40) as the World Heritage Site of Royal Botanical Gardens Kew formed a spectacular backdrop for the opening event of the 6th Richmond RUNFEST.

The half marathon champions in 2018 were Ollie Garrod (Epsom & Ewell Harriers, 1:10:42) and Phillipa Williams (Elswick Harriers, 1:21:53) while the marathon winners were Nick Earl (City of Norwich, 2:32:33) and Melissah Gibson (Ealing Eagles, 2:59:51), who was one of many to take on a weekend double having finished third in the Kew Gardens 10K the previous day.

A total of 6,600 runners contested the three main events and many more lined up for the supporting Richmond 5K, Kid's Mile and NIKE Family Mile races.
