One of the North West’s most loved and talked-about trail runs. You’ll start the race to the sound of a steam train whistle at Bury, then head north along beautiful trails beside the East Lancashire Railway and the River Irwell — all the way to Rawtenstall.
It’s a point-to-point run of approximately 11 miles — perfect if you love trails, enjoy a fun challenge, or simply want to try something new.
What makes this event really special?
You’re literally racing a steam train*! The train travels ahead, stops to change tracks, then heads north again — giving runners the thrill of trying to keep up.
Friends, family and supporters can even ride the train and cheer you on as you run by. It’s a brilliant way to get everyone involved and make a day of it.
