Let The Sun Shine!
Keep the sun shining into June by signing up for the Port Sunlight 10K...
It's been a remarkably sunny Bank Holiday weekend so why not take that as a sign to enter this year's decidedly 'bright' Port Sunlight 10K which is set to take place on 11 June...
The Port Sunlight Road Race was first staged in 2012 and is set in the idyllic village which was founded by ‘Soap King’ William Hesketh Lever in 1888 to house the ‘Sunlight Soap’ factory workers. Today is it home to beautiful architecture, a world-class art gallery, stunning parkland and a thriving community.
The village provides not only a unique and picturesque backdrop for runners but an ideal environment for a family day out - which is why the 10K and 5K races are joined on race day by a 1K for kids to take part in so everyone can get involved.
The compact setting provides a tight network of roads and the 5K race finds its way to the four corners of the village with twists and turns, a bit of undulation and sections along the way where runners can really put their foot down... should they feel inclined!
Due to popular demand in recent years, runners can also register for a Dual Challenge to complete both the 5K and 10K races and earn an extra medal to mark their 15K achievement.
In 2022 more than 1,300 runners pulled on their trainers to take part in the various distances with more than 200 opting for the Dual Challenge. Speaking after the race, BTR's Alan Rothwell commented: “Port Sunlight is a really special setting to stage a race event.
"A lot of work goes on behind the scenes, and we are very grateful for the support of the Port Sunlight community. Seeing the boulevards and village green full of runners, all wearing big smiles and plenty of medals, was just fantastic."
