New Start For North Tyneside Trail
Take on a scenic 12K through North Tyneside in early January...
There's a brand new start location for 2025's North Tyneside Trail Run with news that the popular 12K event will now head out from the beach at Watts Slope and end at the running track at Churchill Playing Fields on 5 January.
The run takes in the beautiful beach at Whitley Bay, the clifftops and coastal paths winding their way along to Seaton Sluice, through the trails and mud of Holywell Dene, along the Waggonways and ends with a partial lap of the running track at Churchill Fields.
Organisers say: "Our race is 'approx' 12K but we can't be exact with these things as we often tweak it a little bit to keep you all on your toes, it all just adds to the mud and the fun after all!
"This year everyone will be running across the beach, no going the easy route through the carpark! But of course the choice of up the first hill or the last hill in Holywell Dene is still all yours, it doesn't matter which one you go for as either way there's a hill and you gotta get to the top!"
Race HQ is at North Shields Poly clubhouse at Churchill Playing Fields where there are also toilets and changing facilities. The race ends at the clubhouse where there will be 'hot and cold drinks and lots and lots of lovely cakes, scones, flapjacks, brownies and all manner of tasty delights."
This year there will be no medals with organisers choosing instead to offer buffs, commenting: "Who doesn't love a buff. Stick it on your head like a pirate or Hulk Hogan, wear it on your wrist flapping around like a new romantic or dangle it from your back pocket and imagine you're Morrissey. The options are endless!"
