New Store Up And Running In Surbiton
An award winning running retailer has just relocated to newly upcycled premises in Surbiton. Up & Running is now exactly that from its brand new store at Bank House, 2 Ditton Road, Surbiton, KT6 6QZ with a grand opening planned for Saturday (10 February).
Up & Running won medals of every hue in the 2017 Running Awards, taking National Retailer – gold; Customer Service – silver and Online Retailer – bronze. With nearly 30 stores nationally the company is reclaiming a strong foothold in the south by stepping out of its Thames Street home in Kingston and reopening a short distance away in Surbiton.
The new store takes upcycling to a new level, with a reclaimed gymnasium for flooring and salvaged fixtures and fittings from a wide range of places and now Up & Running is keen to replicate this policy across all of its new stores. The layout of the new store (pictured) also reflects the unusual curved shape of the iconic building.
“We live in such a disposable world these days”, said Jonathan Midwood, general manager of Up & Running. “It's important for our futures and the upcoming generations' futures that we make the most of materials that are already in existence”.
Up & Running aims to become a community hub for all of Surbiton's runners and the team is already working closely with local running clubs and local races. Should you wish to upcycle your running by taking advantage of the in-store gait analysis and expert shoe fitting service, Dan Cheeseman, manager at the new Surbiton store, is looking forward to welcoming runners of all abilities to the free Social Run Group, which will be starting in March.
Dan says: "I want to make Up and Running Surbiton the destination store for runners in the area. We want to help them achieve their personal goals, whether it be to complete their first 5k or running their first marathon. We want to be there for them every step of the way. For many of our regular customers to the Kingston store this is an exciting move as it is going to allow us to stock more lines and hold regular in store activities and workshops. Oh! It looks cool as well".
