New Marathon For North Yorks!
Fancy 26.2 miles on the stunning North Yorks coastline?
A brand new trail marathon is heading to North Yorkshire in 2025. The Charm Bracelet Marathon will take runners on a gorgeous route around the coastal areas of Whitby and Saltburn and is all set for 13 April 2025.
The event will see runners heading south from Redcar following the King Charles III England Coast Path before a finish in the beautiful fishing town of Whitby. On the way those taking part will pass the ‘Circle’ sculpture between miles 7 and 8. Affectionately known as The Charm Bracelet, its name inspired the marathon.
Speaking about their event, organisers say: "You’ll pass through coastal villages, run on the sand, watch the world from high up on the cliffs, and immerse yourself in everything the Cleveland Way has to offer.
"The Charm Bracelet Marathon is a trail running event, so don’t expect it to be easy under foot. You will encounter mud, sand, rocks, trees, and more mud. We should also mention that there is 3263ft of elevation over the course, so if you’re looking for a nice flat race this one probably isn’t for you."
The event is organised by Cath and Tim, both of whom are runners who started off as walkers. Because of this they are keen to make their event as inclusive as possible, with a cut off long enough to allow it to be walked if running isn’t your thing. They say: "From the first to cross the line, to the final finisher, we’ll be cheering you all on - you’re all equally important to us."
Entrance fee includes a finisher's medal, t-shirt, water, and snacks and it also includes in the words of Cath and Tim: "The happy faces of two of the most excited race directors you could ever wish to see!"
