New Half For Blackpool
New half marathon heads to the Lancashire coast next year...
Wyre Running has unveiled a brand new event for 2026 with the launch of the inaugural Tram Route Run Half Marathon, which is all set to take place on 29 March. The unique race offers runners a rare opportunity to follow the historic tram line from Squires Gate in Blackpool to Marine Hall Gardens in Fleetwood.
Held in early spring, the event arrives at the perfect time for runners preparing for a late season marathon. Its fast, flat coastal route provides an ideal long run or benchmark race for those deep into training plans.
The point to point course travels through Blackpool, Bispham, Cleveleys, Rossall and Fleetwood, giving runners uninterrupted sea views and plenty of coastal atmosphere. Participants can make a day or weekend of it by heading to Blackpool to enjoy its famous promenade, attractions and seaside charm before or after the race.
With only 250 places available, organisers expect demand to be high for what is shaping up to be one of the standout spring races on the Fylde Coast. All entrants will receive a designed finisher’s medal and goody bag, while crowds along the route are expected to provide strong support as runners cover the 13.1 mile journey north. A bus transfer will operate from Marine Hall to the start line to ensure a smooth race day experience.
