Watch Out There's A New Half About!
Still time to enter this new half marathon for Cumbria - but be quick!
A new half marathon for Cumbria will take place later this month at Watchtree Nature Reserve which is situated on the Solway Plain, six miles south west of Carlisle. The Watchtree Half Marathon will take place on 19 November and is a real stunners, with clear views to the northern hills of the Lake District and a course that overlooks the Solway Firth estuary.
The reserve has been home to running events for the last six years, but this is the first time a Half Marathon will take place here. A 10K was staged for the first time earlier in the year and proclaimed a resounding success by organisers and entrants alike, a spokesperson said after the event: "What a fantastic evening for Watchtree's very first 10K Run! Thank you to each and every one of you who entered, you were all incredible!"
The Half Marathon route includes quiet country lanes; but be warned, Watchtree is on top of a hill so there will be ups and downs! Organisers comment: "This will be a very friendly event with a very small number of entrants; ideal for a first event."
Watchtree Nature Reseve is a great location to bring the family along for support as it offers plenty to do and you can easily entertain children for a few hours with bikes, karts, nature walks, orienteering route, and a wonderful cafe too.
