First Dundee Runway Run cleared for take-off

Following on the success of runway runs in other cities across Scotland, Maggie’s Dundee will be bringing the first ‘Run the Runway’ fun run to their city.

The fundraising event will be held at midnight on Saturday, 30 May, and give all those taking part the rare opportunity to run or walk a flat 5k route on the runway of Dundee Airport.

Whether running, walking or cheering friends and family on, dressing up is highly recommended, with prizes to be awarded for the best dressed. Organisers ask everyone taking part to consider fundraising for Maggie’s Dundee, and their expert teams of cancer support specialists, clinical psychologists, benefits advisers and therapy and activity specialists.

Maggie's says: “The Dundee centre has over 13,000 visits a year. Everything we offer is free and that’s because of incredible fundraisers. That’s why we are asking everyone who takes part to raise as much as they can through sponsorship.” All participants who choose to fundraise for Maggie’s Dundee will be in with a chance to win a prize, as will the top two fundraisers.

The event is open to everyone over the age of 12, but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All participants will receive a special medal and free Maggie's T-shirt.

Friends, family and supporters who aren’t running are still welcome to take part in the fun of the night, with ‘fun and games for all the family’ at Dundee Airport from 10pm.

Entries are now open, with a registration fee of £20 for adults and £10 for the under 16s.
