New Race For Moray
Marathon or 20 miles, it is up to you at this north east running event...
Runners in the north of Scotland are in for a treat this spring as the Moray Marathon and brand new Chilled 20 Mile Race will take place on 13 April. With both events starting and finishing in Elgin, these races promise a stunning course, fantastic race-day atmosphere, and a brilliant challenge for runners of all abilities.
Hosted at Elgin's Morriston Playing Fields, the Moray Marathon takes participants on a scenic yet fast route through Lossiemouth and other Moray coastal towns. As the only road marathon in the North East of Scotland in spring, it’s an ideal event for those chasing personal bests or qualifying times for major marathons.
Adding to the excitement, 2025 will see the introduction of the Chilled 20 Mile Race, designed to provide the perfect step-up distance from a half marathon. Organisers say: "Whether you’re training for London or Manchester, or simply looking for a supported long run with 300 fellow runners, this race offers the ideal opportunity to test your endurance ahead of bigger challenges."
The 20 Mile Race will see runners join the marathon route at mile 6.2, allowing those taking part to experience the same supportive and competitive atmosphere as the full marathoners.
There will be medals for all finishers and free refreshments at the finish line. Both events finish on the Morriston Running Track, ensuring a memorable and rewarding race-day experience. Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or stepping up your distance for the first time, this is an unmissable event in Scotland’s running calendar.
